Men's soccer battles to scoreless draw

WESTERVILLE, Ohio -- The Heidelberg University men's soccer team played Otterbein University to a 0-0 draw on Saturday afternoon. The Student Princes move to 5-7-1, 2-2-1 as the Cardinals are now 7-4-3, 2-2-1.

The Berg controlled the tempo for most of regulation -- taking nine shots in each half.

With under a minute to play, HU had a golden goal opportunity. Kiki Alvarado served a corner kick into the box and Porus Shroff was able to get a shot off. Otterbein keeper Collin Hoffmann made the save to preserve the shutout.

Starting goalkeeper Jake Kress made two saves. In the 51st minute, Kress was flagged for a red card, giving way to Alex Archambeau in goal. Archambeau made three saves. Hoffmann made 12 saves in 110 minutes of work.

The Tricolor outshot Otterbein 23-11. The teams combined for 24 fouls in the contest.

Heidelberg hosts Baldwin Wallace on Wednesday afternoon. Kickoff at Hidden Valley is slated for 4 p.m.
