Box Score TIFFIN -- In their first OAC match of 2016, the Heidelberg University men's soccer team defeated Muskingum University 2-1 on Homecoming. The Student Princes have pushed their win streak to three games and improve to 4-5, 1-0 OAC. The Muskies fall to 3-7-1, 0-1 OAC.
Junior Alexis Mendoza set the tone in the 8th minute with his team-leading fourth goal of the season. Kyle Diaz passed a ball inside the 6-yard box and Mendoza placed the ball perfectly past the Musky keeper.
HU held the 1-0 advantage until the 81st minute when MU found the equalizer. Trent Newby, the OAC leading scorer, gathered a loose ball at the top of the box and drilled it in the upper 90 for his ninth goal of the year.
Two minutes later, Heidelberg was awarded a free kick just outside the box, courtesy of a Muskingum yellow card. On the restart, Porus Shroff sent a shot past a diving Musky keeper, putting HU up 2-1. The strike was Shroff's first goal of the season.

Goalkeeper Jake Kress made five saves in the match. MU keeper Gabriel Kral also made five saves.
The Berg recorded 20 shots on the afternoon -- their highest total this season.

Head coach Pat Svihlik on the game: "Muskingum was very well organized, especially defensively ... It was tough for us to break them down ... Their goal sparked a new intensity and we got a whole new gear out of our guys."
Svihlik on Shroff's key goal: "Porus stays late after training working on those types of restarts and it showed in that goal."
