Box Score WILMINGTON – Outright and undefeated OAC Champions.
The Heidelberg University volleyball team completed a 9-0 conference record on Saturday with a convincing sweep of Wilmington. The Student Princes were firing on all cylinders as they recorded a season-high .432 team hitting percentage in the three-set win over the Quakers on the road. The win gives the Berg the outright OAC regular-season championship, as they will be the #1 seed in the upcoming Ohio Athletic Conference Tournament.
KEY STATS
Sarah Parker was dominant again on the attack as she led the team with 14 kills and an impressive .565 hitting percentage. Those kills puts her career total up to 1,198, passing Jackie Reinhart (1,191 kills, 2008-11) for 5th place in Heidelberg history.
Both Mariah Sullivan (8 kills) and Abigail Rose (6 kills) had perfect attack percentages of 1.000 in the victory.
A large amount of the Heidelberg bench was able to see action in the win, as 12 different Student Princes had at least one kill in the match.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The first two sets went pretty similarly for the Berg, as they built a big lead early and cruised to wins. The Student Princes took the first set 25-12 and the second set 25-11.
In the third set, Heidelberg went out to an early 10-3 lead, but the Quakers made a game of it with a big rally that included four-straight aces. Despite having to battle some adversity, the Berg was able to pull away late to finish off the sweep.
