Box Score 2 MARIETTA - A pair of victories to cap off a 3-0 weekend for the Heidelberg University volleyball team have them back on track. The Student Princes finished off the weekend in a strong way, sweeping both Bethany (W.V.) and Kenyon in Marietta.
In the opening match of the day against Bethany, the Student Princes won a hard-fought first set 25-23 before winning more convincingly (25-15, 25-18) in the next two to secure the win.
Jamie Kluding led the Heidelberg offense with 10 kills while Stephanie Romie picked up 31 assists to lead the 'Berg. Defensively, Jubilee Haase led the way with 18 digs.
The later match in the day, against Kenyon College, saw Heidelberg come out and dominate from start to finish, winning in straight sets (25-15. 25-11. 25-17).
Sarah Parker was a force on the attack with 16 kills to lead the team while Romie repeated her performance in the first match with 31 assists. Mariah Sullivan picked up four aces in the match while also assisting in two blocks, tied for the team lead with Parker. Rachel Raimondo led the way defensively with 12 digs while Haase recorded 10.
Romie was named the MVP of the BSN River City Volleyball Tournament, finishing the weekend with 110 assists in Heidelberg's three matches.
Following the pair of wins, Heidelber's record improved to an even 10-10 on the season. They will take to the court next on Saturday, October 4, when they travel to Alma, Michigan to take on a pair of MIAA teams in Alma and Adrian. The first of those matches for the Student Princes is scheduled to begin at 1:00 p.m.
