Box Score HIRAM – The Heidelberg University Men's soccer team had a tough time getting their offense going in a 5-1 loss to Hiram College on Saturday. The Student Princes were outshot 13-6 on the day, conceding three 1st-half goals.
The scoring opened up when Hiram scored on a breakaway in the 7th minute to give them the early advantage. It didn't take them long to add on to that lead when Hiram senior Andy Harding found the back of the net for his second goal of the match.
The score held at 2-0 until the 28th minute when the Terriers added on their third goal, this time off of a cross.
The Student Princes finally got things going on offense shortly after that when Nico Samaniego beat the keeper to the lower right to cut into the deficit.
The 2nd half of the match didn't break away from the trend of the first, however, as Hiram added on two more goals to seal the victory.
Hamid Shariff led Heidelberg with two shots, while keeper Matthew Stevens registered three saves.
The Student Princes will be back in action on Wednesday, September 17th, when they take to the road again to face Defiance College. That match is scheduled for a 4:00 p.m. kickoff.
