Men's Basketball Dropped by Marietta, 76-56

MARIETTA, Ohio - First year head coach Andy Bucheit returned to Marietta as the Heidleberg men's basketball team battled the Pioneers for a second time this season. The Pioneers outlasted the Student Princes, handing them their 12th OAC loss, 76-56.

Senior guard Keith Mackie led the Student Princes with a 14-point performance. Mackie collected two rebounds, two blocks and one assist to accompany his 14 points.

Sophomore Deonte Holder and junior Doug Waldmannstetter were the only other Student Princes to score in double-figures. Holder finished with eleven points to mark his ninth consecutive double-digit performance.

Waldmannstetter finished with ten points and four rebounds in the loss.

The Pioneers took a six point lead, 37-31, at the half after the Berg took their third lead of the first half, 29-25, with 3:33 to go in the first half.

The Heidelberg men surrendered their first double-digit lead of the second half at the 13:18 mark. The Student Princes cut the Pioneer lead to six, 48-42, with 10:21 remaining in the game before Marietta regained their double-digit advantage a minute later.

The Pioneers gradually extended their double-digit lead on the Student Princes until the final buzzer.

The Heidelberg men will return to OAC regular season action when they travel to Ada, Ohio on Wednesday, February 12. The Berg men will take on the Polar Bears of Ohio Northern at 7:30 p.m.
