Box Score 2 ALMA, Mich. – The Heidelberg University volleyball team picked up a pair of wins on Saturday, October 04, moving their current winning streak to 5 matches. The Student Princes swept Adrian in straight sets in the early match before defeating host Alma three sets to one.
Against Adrian, the 'Berg won a hard-fought first set 27-25, but then dominated the final two sets by scores of 25-14 and 25-10 for the victory.
Sarah Parker had a terrific performance, getting 17 kills with a hitting percentage of .552, the highest for Parker this season. Stephanie Romie dished out 28 assists while Jubilee Haase led the defense with 27 digs in the match.
Unable to ride that momentum into the second match of the day, Heidelberg dropped the first set to Alma 25-17. From that point on the Student Princes found their groove, winning the next three sets for their second consecutive undefeated weekend.
Parker led the way again with 14 kills while Jamie Kluding and Janessa Scott were not far behind with 12 and 11, respectively. Romie tallied 30 assists to lead the team while Haase picked up 22 digs.
Following the victories, Heidelberg improved to 12-10 on the season, and will be back to OAC action next week when they travel to Baldwin Wallace on Tuesday. That match is scheduled to begin at 7:00 p.m.
