Box Score TIFFIN, Ohio - A wet field and tenacious Denison team made it a difficult afternoon for the Heidelberg University men's soccer team as they drop their first home contest of the 2013 season, 2-0.
Sophomore Chris Koczak led the Berg offense in their scoreless contest with four total shots and one shot on goal. Defender and fellow sophomore Andy Lacefield was at vie offensively against the Big Red with two shots of his own.
Junior Hamid Shariff and Nico Samaneigo along with sophomore Ryan Homoki collected one shot each with Samaneigo's being the only one that was on target.
The first Denison goal came just five minutes into the game when Bob Casarona footed a ball off of a deflection and knocked it through. The Berg kept the Denison offense quite until three minutes into the second half. Blake Miller netted the second goal of the game off of another deflection in the box.
Junior keeper Matthew Stevens was busy this afternoon with six saves.
The Berg men move to 4-2-0 on the year with Grove City College next up on the Berg's non conference schedule.
The Heidelberg men will travel to Grove City, PA on Tuesday, September 24 to battle the Wolverines in their second to last non-conference skirmish. Kickoff from Grove City is scheduled for 4:00 p.m.
