Box Score TIFFIN, Ohio - Despite three Student Princes finishing in double-digits, the Berg men fell to Mount Union, 74-71.
The Berg battled the Purple Raiders close all game exchanging the lead 11 times throughout the contest. The Student Princes took a six point lead, 71-65, with 2:42 left in the game but Mount Union was not finished offensively.
Mount dropped nine points on the Berg men in the final 2:00 of regulation to defeat the Student Princes in their first Ohio Athletic Conference home contest, 74-71.
Sophomore forward Jackson Blue led the Berg offensively by shooting six of seven from the floor for 14 points. Blue also collected six rebounds and two blocks in the loss.
Junior transfer Deonte Holder finished in double figures for the fifth time this season with 13 points. Holder followed his 13-point performance with five rebounds, two assists and two steals.
Junior guard Frank Longhino led he Heidelberg bench against Mount Union with ten points. Longhino shot a perfect four of four from the floor for ten points to accompany his four rebounds and two assists.
Junior center Jack Hart was a burst of energy off of the Berg bench as he claimed a game-high four blocks, two rebounds, one assist and five points.
Guards Keith Mackie and Cole Williams each collected nine points for the Berg. Both Student Princes hauled in five rebounds, while Mackie shot four and ten from the floor and Williams shot three of eleven against the Purple Raiders.
The Student Princes move to 3-4 overall and 0-2 in the OAC following the loss.
The Heidelberg men will return to the hardwood on Saturday, December 14, when they take on the Pioneers of Marietta College. The game against Marietta, where Heidelberg head coach Andy Bucheit served as an assistant coahc, will tippoff at 3:00 p.m.
