ALLIANCE, Ohio - The Heidelberg Student Princes found themselves in a familiar place, the Ohio Athletic Conference Tournament finals. Facing a familiar foe, the Purple Raiders of Mount Union, who dropped the Berg 3-1 in the regualr season finale, the Berg battled tenaciously, but fell in three sets; 31-29, 25-14 and 25-18.

The Student Princes were led offensively by senior Amber Welfle, freshman Sarah Parker and sophomore Jamie Kluding who tallied 11 kills each.

Senior Alexa Frank finished with a team-high 21 assists in the tourny finals followed by junior Stephanie Romie who collected 11.

Defensively, the Berg was led by Kluding who recorded seven digs followed by defensive leaders Grace Samenuk and Jubilee Haase who tallied six each.

The Berg  finishes 18-15 overall after sharing the OAC regular season title by going 8-1 in conference play. 

With the win, Mount Union earns the OAC's automatic qualifier into the NCAA Tournament.  Heidelberg's fate rests in the hands of the selection committee.  The brackets will be announced on the NCAA Division III Selection Show, which is webcast on Monday at 11 a.m.
