Box Score ALLIANCE - Heidelberg University sophomore Ryan Homoki's two goals were not enough to take down Mount Union in the OAC Quarterfinals. The Student Princes closed out their season with a 3-2 loss on a brisk Monday night.
Homoki got Heidelberg (10-8) on the board early with a goal in the 6th minute. The unassisted goal was his sixth of the season.
Mount Union (12-8) answered with a successful penalty kick by Thomas Beck in the 27th minute.
Just before intermission, Mount Union took their first lead with a goal by Quinn Malone in the 40th minute.
Beck converted his second penalty kick of the game in the 64th minute to give the Purple Raiders a two-goal advantage.
Homoki's second goal, off an assist by Kyle Simpson, cut the Heidelberg deficit in the 87th minute.
As time ticked away, Mount Union withstood a bevy of shots by Heidelberg to perserve the win.
Heidelberg outshot the Purple Raiders 21-9 and held a 9-2 advantage in corner kicks.
Goalkeeper Matthew Stevens had four saves in the loss.
Mount Union will face John Carroll in the OAC semifinals on Wednesday.
