TIFFIN -- The Heidelberg University men's lacrosse team dropped its second-straight game, falling to Adrian College, 24-6. Nick Selfridge tallied his fifth collegiate hat trick, scoring three goals on the afternoon.
Heidelberg slipped to 2-4 while Adrian improved to 2-3 after starting the season at 0-3.
The Bulldogs got out to a 5-0 lead in the first quarter before HU's Owen Carter scored at the 2:21 mark. Carter's fifth of the year came from a tough angle on the left side.
Adrian would take total command of the contest, scoring the game's next 11 goals over the span of 22 minutes.
Selfridge scored with 7:51 left in the third, making it 16-2.
Down 21-3, Patrick McCarthy tallied his fourth of the year with 8:52 left to play. The goal came off a pass from Selfridge.
On a non-releasable body checking penalty to Adrian's Michael Desmadryl, Selfridge scored twice. The first came off a pass from Matt Wernerspach, with the second coming frmo Carter.
Chris Storrs capped the game's scoring with his first collegiate goal -- a goal scored after he picked up a ground ball in the HU defensive third, ran past a bevy of Bulldogs and beat AC's Peter Dugan to the lower left corner. Defensively, Storrs contributed three caused turnovers and had eight ground balls.
Adrian outshot Heidelberg, 56-22. Griffin Davison and Brendan Harvey paced the Bulldogs with a combined 11 goals and three assists.
The Student Princes return to action on Saturday, on the road at Otterbein (2-4). The lid-lifter on Ohio Athletic Conference action is slated for a 1 p.m. start.
