TIFFIN -- The road to the Ohio Athletic Conference tournament became a bit tougher for the Heidelberg University men's basketball team following a 74-67 loss to Ohio Northern University on Wednesday. Coupled with a Wilmington College victory, Heidelberg sits ninth in the OAC -- one game out of the race for one of the eight tournament berths with two games to play.

Senior Chris Moxley paced the Student Princes with 19 points as a reserve. He was a perfect 8 of 8 from the foul line. Prince Benson finished with 15 points while Myron Prewitt was a rebound shy of a double-double, contributing 14 points and nine rebounds.

Prowess on the offensive glass helped Ohio Northern jump out to a 37-26 lead with 4:02 left to play in the first half. To that point, ONU had nine rebounds on the offensive end while Heidelberg only had seven defensive boards. The Polar Bears held a 41-32 edge at halftime, with a 10-2 advantage in second-chance points.

Five minutes into the second half, the visitors built their lead up to 15 at 54-39. A 9-0 run by the Student Princes helped close the gap. Later in the half, HU would close to within five with 2:00 remaining. Two Moxley free throws made it 69-64.

After an ONU miss, Kiere Bennie drew contact driving to the hoop -- but was whistled for an offensive charge. At the other end, the Polar Bears scored on consecutive possessions, taking a seven-point lead which essentially sealed the game.

Ohio Northern finished the game with a 50-34 edge in rebounding, including 21 offensive boards and 18 second-chance points.  Ryan Bruns led the charge with 19 points and 15 rebounds.

HU splits the season series with Ohio Northern, falling to 9-13, 5-10 in the OAC. The Polar Bears improve to 16-6, 11-4 in conference play.

Heidelberg wraps up its home slate with a Senior Day matchup with the University of Mount Union (10-11, 6-8 OAC). Tipoff is scheduled for a 2 p.m. start.
