Athletic Training Information

Facilities

The Heidelberg University Athletic Training Room is located in the lower level of the Seiberling Gymnasium building. The Athletic Training Rehabilitation Room is located across the hall from the main Athletic Training Room. Modalities include but are not limited to Electrical Muscle Stimulation, Ultrasound, Cryotherapy, Paraffin and Hydrotherapy.

The offices for the Athletic Training Department are located within the Saurwein Health and Wellness facility.

Emergency Medical Care

Heidelberg University offers immediate emergency care through our Emergency Action Plans for each venue. Ambulances are present at all home football games and on call for other events. Excel Urgent Care is another emergency care option newly opened to the community. All patients transported via ambulance will be seen at Mercy Hospital in Tiffin for Emergency Room evaluation and treatment.

Provisions for Visiting Teams

It is our pleasure to host the many athletic teams from the Ohio Athletic Conference as well as other conferences and beyond. Our goal is to make the typical provisions for teams and the traveling Athletic Training personnel. The Ohio Athletic Conference outlines various minimum provisions for visiting teams. We will provide water, injury ice and bio hazard supplies. We may also provide cups. We do ask teams to supply their own water bottles and towels. We recommend contacting our staff to make us aware of any unusual requests or needs.

The Ohio Athletic Conference Athletic Trainers will not provide any electrical modality use to visiting team members in the absence of a visiting Certified Athletic Trainer. Teams visiting from outside of Ohio should also be aware of Ohio Law with regard to the practice of Athletic Training.

Should an ATC be unable to travel with a team, a form is provided for your convenience that can help you provide us the necessary information we need to better serve your student athletes. The form can be faxed to our confidential fax within the Athletic Training Room at 419-448-2007 or emailed directly to the corresponding Athletic Trainer for that sport.

*The Athletic Training staff uses a variety of resources to monitor inclement weather. We follow NCAA recommendations with regard to dangerous weather including lightning.
