WESTERVILLE -- After a nearly flawless week on the hardwood, Heidelberg University Men's Basketball player
Markell Johnson-Nichols was named Ohio Athletic Conference Player of the Week, as announced by the league on Monday. Johnson-Nichols, a junior from Reynoldsburg, only missed two shots in 66 minutes of action, helping Heidelberg to two important conference wins.
For the week, he was 11-for-13 (84.6%) from the floor and 5-of-7 (71.4%) from beyond the arc. At the line, he was a perfect 17-for-17 -- improving his season mark to 88.2% from the stripe. He has hit his last 28 free throw attempts.
In 66 minutes of action, Johnson-Nichols added 12 assists and two steals. He committed one turnover.
The wins over Baldwin Wallace and Capital helped Heidelberg move to 9-7 overall, 3-4 in the OAC.
The Student Princes close out the first half of OAC play at home against No. 4 Mount Union. Tipoff at Sayger-Hill Court is slated for 7 p.m.
