WESTERVILLE -- The Heidelberg University wrestling team landed a trio individuals on the All-Ohio Athletic Conference list, as released by the league on Thursday.
Jace Grossman,
Dwight Parker, and T.J. Rhamy received the accolades, as voted on by the head coaches throughout the league.
The three honorees are the most for the Student Princes in a single season since the 2016-17 campaign.
"I could not be more proud of Dwight, T.J. and Jace," said Head Coach
Tony Patrizi. "All-OAC honors are great, but these guys are not done yet. An exciting opportunity lies ahead of us this weekend."
Grossman was the first team selection at 285, and is no stranger to OAC honors. After earning First Team All-OAC honors as a tight end/running back hybrid for 'Berg Football, Grossman joined the wrestling team and enjoyed immense success. The Cygnet, Ohio, native is 16-2 overall, with 10 pins. In OAC action, he went 5-0.
"As the wise elder of the team, Jace has played an important role in our success," said Patrizi. "Missing almost half the season as a vital part of the football team and to still come in and dominate is incredible."
Parker was the second team selection at 149. A senior from Apopka, Florida, Parker went 5-2 in OAC action this year. Overall, he is 20-7 this season with nine falls. The 20-win season is the second of his career (20-14 in 2019-20).
"Dwight was 3-13 as a freshman … The amount of growth that I have seen in him as a wrestler and as a person reminds me of why I coach," said Patrizi.
Like Grossman, Rhamy -- the second team honoree at 174 -- joined the wrestling team after the conclusion of football. Rhamy, from McClure, Ohio, is 20-5 on the season. In conference action, the sophomore was 4-0.
"T.J. didn't skip a beat after taking a year off wrestling since high school," said Patrizi. "He is a fierce competitor and is fun to watch. I love his attitude."
The all-conference selection is the first for all three.
Along with their teammates, Grossman, Parker and Rhamy will compete for a trip to the NCAA Championships during this weekend's NCAA Regional Tournament, hosted by Adrian College. Action begins on Friday and concludes Saturday.
