Ron Linhart Memorial Back the Berg Golf Outing Landing Page

The 2021 Ron Linhart Memorial Back the Berg Golf Outing was held on July 23, 2021 at Mohawk Golf & Country Club.  Renamed in honor of the late Ron Linhart '79, longtime H Association president, the outing featured two flights of golfers -- a record-setting total of 48 teams.  'Berg baseball coach Chad Fitzgerald and three of his former players -- Tony Hajdu, Conner Pacella and Parker Fronk -- won the event with a 55.  

"It was a great day to support Heidelberg Athletics and to honor the legacy of Ron," said Heidelberg Athletic Director Matt Palm.  "Each year, this is one of my favorite events."

With the win, Fitzgerald's name will be added to the Todd Bertermann Trophy for a second time.  He also took home a team skin on #12 and won the men's long drive contest ... all less than a week after he and his wife Melanie welcomed their second child.  Not a bad week.  

Between player fees and sponsorships, the event raised more than $65,000 for Heidelberg Athletics.  

A light morning drizzle subsided in time for a muggy afternoon.  Course conditions were decidedly different than they were for the 2020 outing, which was hampered by a miserably cold rain in October.  

The tentative date for the next Ron Linhart Memorial Back the Berg Golf Outing is July 22, 2022.
