TIFFIN -- The rain held off for the Heidelberg track and field teams to host the Monica Scott Invitational on Saturday. The meet honored 1986 Berg graduate Monica Scott (Short) who was a three-time All-American for the Student Princes.
The men's team finished in third place overall with 131 points while the women finished in fourth with 110.
Heidelberg will be back on the track next Saturday at Marietta College for a tune up before the OAC championship meet in Hoernemann Stadium.
Here are some of the top performances of the day for The 'Berg:
Women's long jump:
Arinn Hayes took a win in the event for the Student Princes, recording a jump of 4.98 meters.
Men's 1500 meter run:
David Drushal won the event in commanding fashion for Heidelberg with a time of 4:02.57.
Women's 200 meter dash: Hayes scored another win in the meet in the 200 meter dash. She ran a time of 26.72 in the half-lap race. Abbitt also scored with a sixth-place finish.
Men's 5000 meter run:
Nathan Jimenez won the event for the Tricolor with his time of 16:27.05.
Tyler Hudson also scored points with a fifth-place finish.
Men's shot put: Garett Dudley finished in second place for Heidelberg with a throw of 13.67 meters in the shot put event.
Women's 3000 meter steeplechase:
Caitlyn Mauger led a Heidelberg sweep of the top two positions with a time of 12:52.15.
Kenzie Allsop finished in second place with a time of 13:21.82
Men's 100 meter dash:
Dan Stoll took the win for Heidelberg with a time of 11.1.
James Ervin III finished in second place, .2 seconds behind and
Noah Paris finished in third.
Men's 200 meter dash: Stoll and Ervin combined for a 1-2 Heidelberg finish in the 200 meter dash as well. Running times of 22.08 and 22.7 respectively.
Women's 1500 meter run:
Kenzie Fountain won the race ahead of
Quinnlyn Conley. Fountain recorded a time of 5:48.8, finishing twelve seconds ahead of Conley.
Men's triple jump:
Jared Crawford won the event for The Berg with a leap of 11.36 meters.
Women's 400 meter dash:
Savannah Sutherland took a second-place finish for The Berg with a time of 1:02.06, finishing less than one second behind the winner from Wilmington. Abbitt also scored with a fourth-place finish.
Men's 400 meter hurdles:
Alex Morgan won the 400 meter hurdles by a margin of .5 seconds with his time of 50.3.
Women's high jump: Sutherland recorded another second place in the high jump after clearing 1.45 meters.
Women's pole vault:
Mackenzie Murray cleared a height of 2.7 meters in the pole vault to finish in second place in the event.
Women's shot put:
Morgan Sweat recorded a throw of 10.07 meters to earn a fourth-place finish in the shot put.
Women's javelin:
Lauren Mussig scored points for Heidelberg with a sixth place in the javelin throw. Mussig recorded a throw of 21.5 meters in the event.
Men's 800 meter run:
Mitch Luken scored a second place finish with his finishing time of 1:59.56.
Hunter Greenman finished in fifth place for The Berg.
Men's pole vault: Brady Salmons cleared a height of 3.55 meters in the pole vault to score a third-place finish for the Tricolor.
Women's 5000 meter run:
Vanessa Shanaman earned a third-place finish for The Berg with her finishing time of 19:35.54.
