CINCINNATI -- Wrestling with an unfamiliar lineup, the Heidelberg University wrestling team was knocked off by non-conference foe Mt. St. Joseph on Thursday evening by a final score of 28-21.

The loss slips the Student Princes to 5-11 on the season while MSJ moves to 12-5 on the year in dual matches.

Harrison Hadley bumped HU out to a quick 6-0 lead winning by forfeit at 125. The lead set up Mason Brainard to make quick work of Kaden Darbro at 133. After Brainard led 6-1, the senior finished the deal early in the second period, sticking Darbro for just his second pin of the year.

The Lions answered back at 141, as Nathaniel McClanahan pinned Jake Justice in the third period.

At 149, Heidelberg put a little bit more distance between the two sides as Dwight Parker outlasted Chase Haehnle of MSJ. Parker got ahead early and fended off a resilient comeback effort from Haehnle to take the bout by a final of 13-11.

MSJ closed the gap to 15-10 after Tre Bogetich fell at 157 by means of a major decision victory. Bogetich battled hard, but two near falls in the third period from Charles Lipps sealed the major.

The gap closed even further as Austin Belcher upended Dominc Finch at 165 via an 8-3 decision.

At 174, Alex Westbrook faced off against Cornell Beachem and was defeated by means of the tech fall. The five points for MSJ moved them into the lead for the first time on the night.

The nation's No. 5 wrestler according to D3Wrestle.com, Antonio McCloud extended the Lions' lead with a first-period pin over Adam Medeiros in the 184 pound weight class.

A major decision from Cameron Sauerwein over Da'Veon Parker at 197 put the match out of reach for the Student Princes, no matter the outcome at 285.

At 285, Eric Adkins did end the night on a high note for The Berg as he pinned Zak Hughey near the beginning of the third period. The pin was Adkins' 11th of the season.

Heidelberg will take the weekend off before welcoming No. 10 Mount Union to Seiberling Gymnasium on Tuesday, February 11th. The match will mark the team's final OAC dual of the season and Senior Day for Hayden Bates, Mason Brainard, Joe Damm, Blake Jerome, Dylan Roth and Slade Todd
