ADRIAN, Michigan -- Behind 14 top-eight performances, the Heidelberg University wrestling team opened its 2019-20 season with a third-place finish at the Adrian Invitational.
Dylan Roth won at 184 and
Devin Miller took third at 165.
"It was a great first outing … We had a lot of people with a lot of well-wrestled matches, including several freshmen," said Head Coach
Tony Patrizi. "I am looking forward to getting back into practice this week to get ready for the Washington & Jefferson Invitational."
Heidelberg amassed 26 pins on the day.
125: Lone 'Berg entrant
Harrison Hadley went 0-2.
133: Thomas Schnitker (2-3) took home sixth place. He picked up wins in his first two matches before falling in his final three.
Iosef Nunez was eighth. Nunez dropped his opener before earning decision in his next two matches. He finished 2-3.
141: Jake Justice was 0-2.
149: Slade Todd (5-1) took home a fourth-place finish. After losing his opener, Todd reeled off five straight wins, including three pins.
Hayden Bates was 6th, finishing 3-2. Bates picked up a two pins and a tech in his first three matches.
Carson Pottenger took seventh with a 3-2 record. Pottenger had one fall on the day.
Dwight Parker went 2-2 with a pin, but did not place.
Jesse Goldufsky was 0-2.
157: Joe Damm was eighth with a 4-2 record. He recorded a pin and a major decision among his four wins.
Jacob Horsch (2-2) and
Micah Mydloski (1-2) did not place.
165: Devin Miller was third with a 4-1 record. He had one pin and one major decision on the day.
Dominic Finch (2-2) and
Tre Bogetich (1-2) did not place.
174: Jeremiah Slagle (4-2) took fifth place. Each of his four wins came with bonus points -- two pins and two majors.
Alex Westbrook went 2-2 and took seventh. One of his wins was a pin.
Braedan Kahl (1-2) and Adam Mederios (0-2) did not place.
184: All-American
Dylan Roth opened the year with four straight wins -- all of which had bonus points. Roth had two pins, a tech and a major.

Blake Jerome was sixth with a 4-2 record that included three pins and a major.
Eric Adkins went 4-2 and finished seventh. He had one pin.
Raven Brant (2-3) was eighth. He opened his career with a pin.
Gabriel Martinez (2-2) and
Brandon DiPrima (1-2) did not place.
